To make a box 6
Turning the bar in the middle of the handle on a metal working lathe.
Cutting to length with a hand saw.
The bar is put back in the chuck to form a shoulder.
The parts for the handles are sanded and any sharp edges removed.
This is what a handle looks like prior to fixing to the box.
A jig was made to drill the holes in the drawer fronts to accept the handles.
A similar jig is made to drill the holes for the single handle in the middle of the top.
The final process is applying several coats of finishing oil over a number of days and 2 coats of wax to leave a silky sheen.
